Keep Phoenix Beautiful’s Earth Day 2012 celebration

Earlier this year on Friday, April 20, 2012, Devious Wigs & Things had the pleasure of helping to educate the community, on making Green living a part of Fashion, during Keep Phoenix Beautiful’s Earth Day 2012 Celebration. We had recycled jewelry, feather creations, fringe scarves and aprons on hand. Each item was made from discarded, recycled, redesigned or recreated items, which would have normally ended up in the landfill. Most were amazed at what could be done with such items, and many promised to take the ideas home to share with their loved ones.  At the event, hosted and presented by Keep Phoenix Beautiful, many local and national companies shared their Green solutions and creations as well.

The Phoenix Convention Center was on hand with their environmentally friendly Green flatware options. The Sheraton Hotel was sampling some tasty treats (sorry I ate them before I could photograph them!). The City of Phoenix had several tents offering information on recycling almost everything. Local First Arizona was set up at the event with information about why everyone should shop at locally owned businesses, and what that impact could do for our economy. Mountain Dew keep us hydrated with their new drink flavors. Coca Cola was on hand with free drinks served next to their Hybrid delivery truck. The Salt River Project was giving away flower bombs and educating the public on their Green programs as well. There were over 75 companies who are dedicated to going Green, and we were so honored to be a part of it as well!

Next year you should plan on attending, and until then please visit the link provided below to Keep Phoenix Beautiful!
