Donate to assist Veterans today!

Live Fashionably Green

They fought for our Freedoms

Many charity organizations are in need of your unwanted stuff. With your stuff they can support those who risked their lives for our freedoms. Veterans selflessly gave their freedom, in hopes that we would get to enjoy ours. So its unfortunate that in today’s society many soldiers are pushed to the side, to discouraged to do anything, to depressed to move on. For those that experienced traumatic situations while serving our country, its even harder.  Though they garner honor and respect, many are shun. This is where you can step up and spread the love. Support these organizations or others in your local neighborhood which will provide assistance, guidance and support for those who should matter the most.

Spreading the love is easy once you start with the clutter around you. If your having a hard time deciding on things to donate, just imagine the happiness on a veterans face, when he learns that he does’t have to sleep on the streets, or when he may have just received the counselling he needed, or when he is eating that hot meal provided because of your donation. It will mean the world to you both.

Here are a few tips to decluttering your area:

  1. Grab a basket or a bag.
  2. Look around the area in front of you and grab something that you don’t mind being without.
  3. Toss it into the basket or bag.
  4. Repeat step 2 and 3 until you can’t find another thing to part with.
  5. Grab an item you hate to clean, or needs cleaning (one that is way overdue).
  6. Toss it into the basket or bag.
  7. Repeat step 5 and 6 until you can’t find another thing that you hate to clean.
  8. Grab an item you just know you should get rid of.
  9. Toss it into the basket or bag.
  10. Repeat step 8 and 9 until you can’t find another thing that you just know you should get rid of.
  11. Grab an item that you think someone else might enjoy much more than you do.
  12. Toss it into the basket or bag.
  13. Repeat step 11 and 12 until you can’t find another thing that you think someone else might enjoy much more than you do.
  14. Grab an item that you can see a child beaming with love at first sight, when they hold it.
  15. Toss it into the basket or bag.
  16. Repeat step 14 and 15 until you can’t find another thing that you can see a child beaming with love at first sight.
  17. After finishing 1-16 for the area in front of you, repeat for the area behind you.
  18. After repeating steps 1-16 for the area in front and behind you, move to the room closest to you and repeat.
  19. After repeating steps 1-16 for the area in the room nearest to your current location, repeat in next closest room.
  20. After repeating steps 1-16 for the area in all rooms, including the kitchen, move to the storage rooms and areas and repeat.
  21. Take baskets or bags to your front porch and schedule your pick up with one of these organizations or drop off at your local veterans charity.

There are many organizations that will come to collect your donation for FREE. A few places that you can schedule donation pick ups with are (in no preferred order):

http://purpleheart.gooddonor.org/web/pagedetail.aspx?pgID=aboutus or Purple Heart Pickup Service The funding for veterans services, welfare, rehabilitation, and educational programs comes from the Military Order of the Purple Heart Service Foundation, Inc. Funds for these programs are raised by the wholesale of useable household goods contributed by people just like you.

This organization accepts donations of new items:

http://military.helpthechildren.org/  Military Families Assistance Program provides military families with boxes of non-perishable food items such as canned goods, noodles, rice, beans, etc., clothing, and more.
